Personality disorder: a deeply ingrained and maladaptive pattern of behavior of a specified kind, typically manifest by the time one reaches adolescence and causing long-term difficulties in personal relationships or in functioning in society.
The name similarities between schizoid and schizotypal personality disorders may cause confusion. Schizoid refers to individuals who have problems showing emotion or building social relationships, whereas schizotypal results in peculiar beliefs such as thinking one can manipulate others with his thoughts or perceiving messages meant only for him in public "speeches or displays."
